Massachusetts students are planning a 50 Mile walk for gun violence prevention next month, this is part of a national campaign started by youth in Wisconsin. On August 22nd, students will gather in Worcester. Beginning the next morning they will walk west to Springfield, ending on August 26th at Smith and Wesson’s headquarters. Students are demanding that Smith and Wesson stop selling guns outside of Massachusetts that are not allowed to be sold in Massachusetts and for funding from Smith and Wesson for gun trafficking research. In order to accomplish this task, students need a variety of adult volunteers, including adult walkers, first aid helpers, meal preparers and drivers.
Please help the students reach Smith and Wesson through one of the options below:
Volunteer (a variety of shifts available on August 22nd, August 23rd, August 24th, August 25th, August 26th): http://bit.ly/50mmmVolunteer
Buy a t-shirt to support their cause: https://www.bonfire.com/50-miles-more-ma/

“Submit a Public Comment on…”
The Content of the 2020 Census questionnaire is described as follows:
"The proposed questions for the 2020 Census questionnaire include age, citizenship, Hispanic origin, race, relationship, sex, and tenure.”
I object to the inclusion of questions about “citizenship” in the 2020 Census questionnaire. This is a new, additional question that increases of burden upon respondents and also the costs of data collection. The question appears to be designed to reduce the participation of non-citizens. This will disadvantage states like my state--Massachusetts--that have significant immigrant populations. It will result in an undercount of Massachusetts residents and less funding where the formula depends, in part of in whole, on accurate population counts.

Dear Pioneer Valley friends and neighbors,
US Rep. John Faso (NY19), our NY neighbors' representative, now has a Democratic opponent! Progressive Antonio Delgado won Tuesday's primary in a seven-way race. With only four months to election day there is no time to waste.
To help elect Delgado and defeat Faso this fall, join us on Sunday, July 15th, to canvass in that district as part of a campaign organized by NY19Votes. NY19Votes is a grassroots organization we have been working with for months.
To get started do two things:
1) Click here and register to canvass. We recommend you register to canvass in Brunswick, NY, the closest location (about 1 and 3/4 hrs drive from Northampton); and
2) Email Elaine Fronhofer at efronhofer@gmail.com and let her know you are coming. Elaine is coordinating carpooling AND helping NY19Votes tally volunteers coming from our area.
You can also email Elaine with any questions you have about this event.
This race will be very competitive but winnable. And if we all work together we will TAKE BACK THE HOUSE!
Here's to much-needed change in the mid-term elections and beyond!!
